There is a vacancy for an upper GI CNS at Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to work with CNS Andrea Burgess. It will be with both OG and HPB patients.
The post holder will be responsible for providing a comprehensive nursing service to both inpatients and outpatients with U.G.I. Cancer, through clinical practice, teaching, participation in research and acting as an expert resource for the multidisciplinary team. The successful applicant will be an integral part of the team co-ordinating care pathways and providing a pivotal link between the Christie Hospital and the Greater Manchester and Cheshire Cancer Network. The post holder will also be part of the duty manager rota.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and highly motivated Nurse Specialist to join a team of GI nurses within SUHT and provide specialist cancer nursing services to patients with Hepatobiliary cancer across the patient pathway. The Nurse Specialist will act as the key worker for patients within SUHT, and play an integral part in both coordination and support for regional referrals. The post requires a highly motivated and dedicated individual with both the vision and leadership skills to develop the service working alongside the Clinical Nurse Specialist and provide innovative approaches to care delivery. The post holder will have had experience in a senior nursing role and be used to working independently within a highly specialised and dedicated clinical team. The post holder will be educated to or working towards a degree level, The individual will provide expert education and leadership across the trust relation to Hepatobiliary cancer nursing and be able to communicate at an advanced level. Experience in cancer nursing is also desirable. An interest in developing nurse led services is essential The post requires the flexibility in day-to-day management to meet the needs of the service.
