Head of Research, Pancreatic Cancer UK
Part-time - 21 hours per week
Salary: Circa £45,000 FT (Salary will be pro
rata, based on a PT contract)
We are recruiting to an exciting new Head of Research post
at Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Working closely with our international Scientific Advisory
Board, the role will be to take overall responsibility for the
development of our research strategy and funding programme.
You will manage our portfolio of applications and active
grants; liaise closely with researchers and other external
contacts; represent the charity at a wide range of levels; and
support and co-ordinate new projects. You will also be
responsible for ensuring that the charity's research work is
integrated across the charity, and fully supports other activities
such as fundraising, communications/campaigning, and services.
To achieve this you will have an undergraduate science degree,
preferably with a biological component. You will have good
experience of running multiple grant applications and have
excellent project management skills. You will have the
confidence and maturity to represent the charity, and have
excellent relationship management skills. You will be a
pro-active multi-tasker, capable of thinking strategically, but
prepared to undertake more operational tasks if required.
This will be a permanent contract for 21 hours per week (days
to be agreed, but this will need to include a Tuesday). It
will be primarily based at our Vauxhall office, but there may be
some flexibility on home working for the right candidate.

We fund innovative research that makes the most impact with
limited resources and work collaboratively with others to leverage
additional investment across the UK.
The Scientific Advisory Board advises the Board of Trustees and
Chief Executive on the development of Pancreatic Cancer UK's
research grant-giving strategy, ensures independent review of
proposals for research funding and oversees the processes for
timely monitoring and reporting of funded research activity.
We now wish to appoint up to two lay members to join the
Scientific Advisory Board to add a public perspective to the
scientific expertise on the group.
