Hi just dropping by to say Im fine doing well, just about half way through chemo (delay this week due to low white blood cells). Quite surprised how well Im handling it! I know the chemo is working on my lymph node because I cannot feel a lump anymore it shrank within 2 days of first chemo how amazing is that? I cant say for sure that it is having same effect on breast but I'll wait and see.
Still having IBS problems have now increased my Creon and it has helped slightly and Ive asked to be referred to a specialist in bowels so Im working my way round various depts in the hospital now!!!! I see him next week so heres hoping I'll get a cure or at least half decent pain relief!! Unfortunately he wants to do a colonoscopy but my chemo routine wont permit it at the moment so that will have to wait until... November when I finish chemo. What a waste of a year this has been!! Most of last year waiting and the recovering from surgery then most of this year on chemo... heres hoping thats me for a very long time!!!
Hope you are all well, its always good to hear how you are all doing, please keep in touch!

Hi Lynn,

Just wanted to say what a wonderfully brave and courageous woman you are, how you cope with all thats going on and a young family is amazing.

As for shouting at the children I can relate to! My mum has pc cancer and its been a bit of a rollercoaster recently, I'm her sole carer and transport (dad died years ago of leukaemia), I also work partime and have 4 children 8, 13, 14 and 18 years. We do such a good job of covering up what going on and acting normally that they do precisely that - act normally - dealing with the petty squabbles on a daily basis when we are so worried about other things is very hard and sometimes I do find myself feeling guilty when I've just shouted at them!

I think you are doing an amazing job - keep your chin up and I hope all goes well for you. Kim

probiotics

Postby looloo1 » Mon Nov 26, 2007 4:22 pm

Hi all Hope you are well! I have finished my chemo yeay! I also had my mastectomy 2 weeks ago and get my stitches out tomorrow. I thought I would post and say that I have found that taking probiotic tablets has stopped my Irritable Bowel Syndrome symtoms. I have read a lot about probiotics recently so I thought I'd give them a try and I have been taking them one a day for a month now and havent had any pains at all. I cannot believe that someting so simple can transform my life but it has. I know one month isnt really a long time but for me to be pain free in that time and have confidence to eat food without worrying about the repurcussions is great! I bought an inexpensive tablet form from Holland and Barret and would reccommend it to anyone who has IBS after surgery to try it.
No news re my pancreas NET havent been scanned since March so I'm a bit anxious to be scanned to put my mind at ease! Think I'm being rescanned in January so will feedback then!
Have a nice Christmas!
Lynn

Hi all just dropping in for an update! Well I have been taking my acidopholus (probiotic tablets) twice a day for 9 months without one bout of pain - until last week. I would still recommend them though! Im hoping its just a blip, maybe a tummy upset due to something... too much alcohol/strawberries/different brand of bread... who knows! I got some peppermint oil tablets from the dr and they made me worse I didnt actually make it into work this morning - was stuck in the loo for the best part of 2 hours! I can laugh now that Im out but this is no way to live! I refuse to go back to this! So I've by-passed the dr and phoned my consultant's secretary... I await my return call. I've been through so much the past 2 years I refuse to be beaten by tummy cramps -surely trapped wind cannot cause pain of that severity! Also my GP thinks it is caused by stress, but I am not feeling stressed just now. If it was stress then I should have been hit with this in the run up to my exams in May or when I returned to work in April... but I was fine then and was fine right up til last week!Im stressed now of course because of the daily pains!

Hope you are all well. I'm due to get my reconstructive surgery sometime in the next 16 weeks!

Hello Lynn
I haven't been on this site for a while - I just saw your update. I hope that by now you've had your reconstruction?
Wishing you well,

Hello Lynn

Just been reading your story and wanted to ask how you were getting on? You have been through so much and sound so brave, even though you have had so much pain, upset and worry.

I was interested to read about the probiotic tablets which you felt eased your IBS. My daughter, who is 25, has had problems with it since her dad was diagnosed with PC. I suppose it's the upset and worry for her too. I've just emailed her and suggested she tries them.

I truly hope things are going better for you and you are feeling well and positive.

Best wishes
Ellie
