How to apply
How do I get a place to run for Pancreatic Cancer UK?
There are two ways you can secure a place in a run to do some
fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
1. Apply for your own place
You can sign up to participate in most runs through a public
ballot system. Find a run near you and use their registration
process to secure your own place in the run. Once you have
confirmation of a place fill in the application form at the bottom
of this page and a member of our fundraising team will contact you
within three to five business days.
2. Apply for a charitable place
Each year Pancreatic Cancer UK secures charitable places in
several runs throughout the UK. We select the runs based on whether
they are likely to sell out their quota of public ballot
spaces.
To apply for one of our charitable places you simply need to
submit an application form (link at the bottom fo this page) to our
fundraising team. You will be notified within five business days as
to whether or not you have been given a place.
* Important
* Due to the high demand for places in the London
Marathon we have a separate application process. A Selection
Committee will determine the assignment of charitable places to
everyone who applies and chosen runners will be notified no later
than October 31st.
What happens once I'm registered to run?
If you're in your own place you will be added to the database
for the organiser of the race and any details for the run (time,
location, race number) will be provided directly from
them.
You should then send an email to
fundraiser@pancreaticcancer.org.uk to let us know that you've
secured a place and will be running for the charity.
If you're given a charitable place a member of our fundraising
team will confirm this by sending you an email to register on the
run console. This registration must be completed to ensure that the
run organisers have the correct information on their system.
Check your junk folder if you've not received the email as
it can sometimes be filtered as spam.
Most run consoles close within five to eight weeks of the run
date. Once the console closes you will be sent a race pack directly
from the run organisers.
It is common for own place runners to receive their race packs
several weeks prior to charitable place runners due to the console
system.
What support does Pancreatic Cancer UK offer to
runners?
Whether in your own place or a charitable place, the support we
offer is the same to all of our runners.
Sponsorship forms for offline donation collection
Training guides for marathon and half marathon participants
Tips on how to create and promote an online fundraising page
Fundraising support materials such as collecting tins or
promotional leaflets
A t-shirt or running vest to every individual raising a minimum
of £100
*
Running vests are given to marathon and half marathon participants
by default. All other runners are provided with a t-shirt. If you
want to change this please let our fundraising team know at least
six weeks in advance as this is when shirts are sent to
runners.
