AZD5363
Title: A study to assess the safety, tolerability and
anti-cancer potential of AZD5363
Full title: Assessment of the safety,
tolerability and potential anti-cancer activity of increasing doses
of AZD5363 in different treatment schedules
Phase I Trial
Why is this trial being carried out?
AZD5363 is a new drug that blocks an enzyme called protein
kinase B (PKB) that is involved in cancer development and in
tumours becoming resistant to some important anti-cancer drugs.
This study is to investigate the safety of AZD5363, to identify
a suitable dose and treatment schedule and to look at how well the
body tolerates the drug.
Who is the trial suitable for?
This study is suitable for patients with advanced solid tumours
(e.g. pancreas, lung, bowel) where there are no other standard
treatment options. The trial doctors will explain any other
requirements to join the trial.
Trial centres
The trial is open in Manchester and Surrey.
Recruitment start date: December 2010
