Gemcitabine with MK-0752
Title: A trial looking at gemcitabine with MK-0752 to treat
pancreatic cancer
Full title: Phase I/IIa trial of an oral notch
inhibitor (MK 0752) in combination with gemcitabine in patients
with stage IV pancreatic cancer
Phase I/II Trial
Why is this trial being carried out?
Gemcitabine is a chemotherapy drug that is often used to treat
pancreatic cancer. It is sometimes combined with other drugs to try
to improve treatment.
This trial is looking at whether combining gemcitabine with
another drug called MK-0752 is a more effective treatment than
gemcitabine alone. It is also looking at the best dose of each drug
that can be given and at the side effects of this combined
treatment.
Who is the trial suitable for?
This trial is suitable for patients who have the most common
type of pancreatic cancer (adenocarcinoma) that has spread to other
parts of the body. The tumour must be able to be measured on a scan
and have a small piece of tissue (biopsy) taken from it. Your
doctor(s) will explain these and any other requirements to join the
trial.
Trial centres
Cambridge, Glasgow, Leicester and London.
