Causes of cancer in Scotland
Title: A study looking at the causes of different types of
cancer in Scotland
Why is this trial being carried out?
This study is trying to find out more about the causes of
different types of cancer including pancreatic cancer. Blood and
tissues samples are collected from people with cancer and the study
is looking for links between the characteristics of the cancer
cells and the treatment outcomes of individuals. It is hoped that
this study will help inform the development of improved treatments
and it may also provide new information on ways to prevent
cancer.
Who is the trial suitable for?
Patients newly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer who are waiting
to have surgery or a biopsy taken and are being cared for at a
hospital within the Lothian University Hospitals Division,
Scotland.
