Leave a gift of hope in your Will

Together we can transform the future for everyone affected.

A gift in your Will could spark a research breakthrough.

“I’ve been working in pancreatic cancer research for the last 30 years and I have never been as excited as I am today about the prospects.”

Professor Nick Lemoine, Pancreatic Cancer UK funded researcher

Even though it’s the UK’s fifth biggest cancer killer, pancreatic cancer has been underfunded for decades. Survival rates are among the worst in the world, with more than half of people dying within 3 months of diagnosis. Together we can change that.

Many kind supporters choose to leave us a percentage of their estate after providing for loved ones. Gifts of all sizes support ground-breaking research into early diagnosis and better treatment and care, and allow us to provide information and specialist nurse support to people affected by pancreatic cancer. You can be sure that any gift you leave in your Will gives hope for a better future for everyone affected. Together we can transform the future.

Frequently asked questions

What type of gift can I leave?

There are a number of different types of gifts to choose from, but the two most common are known as Residuary Gifts and Pecuniary Gifts.

It’s important that you choose the type of legacy that works best for you and your circumstances. Please do take advice on this from your solicitor or financial advisor if you are unsure.

  • Residuary gift

This is a percentage of your estate* after all other gifts and expenses have been paid.  Many people choose to add a percentage of their estate to Pancreatic Cancer UK as this enables them to provide for loved ones first and the value does not diminish over time. Leaving 10% of your estate to charity can reduce your inheritance tax liability from 40% to 36% for your entire estate.

  • Pecuniary gift

This is a gift of a set amount of money from your estate.* It is paid before residuary gifts and is likely to decrease in value over time.

*everything owned by a person who has died is known as their estate.

What wording should I use?

We recommend that you speak to a solicitor who will advise you and help with the wording of your gift.

You will need to give your solicitor our registered address and charity numbers and they will do the rest.

My Gift of Hope – Remembering Gillian and David

Pancreatic Cancer took away the two people I loved the most. My hope is that the gift in my Will goes on to prevent other families and couples from being torn apart by this terrible disease.
