Community and Events Fundraising – Office Volunteer (London)

Pcuk OfficeWe are offering an exciting part-time volunteering opportunity (2 days per week, for 3 months) to support our busy Community & Events Fundraising Team at our London Head Office. 

It is the ideal opportunity to gain valuable experience in a busy fundraising team at a fast-growing charity.  You will be supported in your role by members of our Community & Events team.

You will have excellent communication skills, competent written, IT and administration skills, a confident telephone manner, and be a team player.  You must also be committed to the charity’s vision and values. 

In return, you will gain experience in a busy, friendly team, meet new people, receive support and induction, reimbursement for volunteer expenses, as well as the satisfaction of making a valuable contribution to the work of Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Peer Support Volunteer

Pcuk Portraits 087We are offering an exciting opportunity to become a Volunteer for our new peer support pilot service, Side by Side. We know that people with pancreatic cancer are often worried about surgery and do not know what to expect. Through our new Side by Side project, we want to offer people preparing for or recovering from surgery and / or their family and friends the opportunity to speak to someone who has been in a similar situation and so really understands what they are going through.

If you’ve had personal experience of surgery to treat pancreatic cancer (either as someone diagnosed or as a carer) and would be comfortable talking about and sharing your personal experience to help others in a similar situation we would love to hear from you.

You will provide emotional support via the telephone as a one off support call with the possibility of two or three follow up calls over a period of 3 - 6 months so you will need to have excellent listening skills and be able to communicate effectively on the telephone.

Term: Initially 6 months, from January to July, 2018 with possible extension.

Hours: These will be variable at a mutually agreeable time and may be during weekdays, evenings or at weekends depending on your availability and the needs of people seeking support from the service. You will not be matched with more than 3 people at any one time.

Training

Acceptance as a Peer Support Volunteer will be dependent on successfully completing our induction training (which will take place in January 2018) and the provision of two references. Information Volunteers

Andrea And VolWe are offering an exciting part-time volunteering opportunity (1-2 days per month) to support our regional teams in the West Midlands, North West England, and Northern Ireland. The Information Volunteers will help our teams to reach people throughout these regions who are affected by a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, providing them with access to our information and support.

You will have excellent communication skills, a good knowledge of Pancreatic Cancer UK services, an empathy for people affected by pancreatic cancer, and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality and personal boundaries.

In return, you will gain experience in a busy, friendly team, meet new people, receive support and induction, reimbursement for volunteer expenses, as well as the satisfaction of making a valuable contribution to the work of Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Training

Events Volunteers

London marathon_-9.jpgIf you are enthusiastic and keen to get involved then why not join us as an Events Volunteer?

As an Events Volunteer you can donate your time and skills in support of Pancreatic Cancer UK's fundraising activities; ranging from attending one of our major events such as the London Marathon to helping out at a local bag pack or change collection.

Our Events Volunteers will be invited to support activities in their local area. As one, you will receive a Pancreatic Cancer UK t-shirt and all the information and support you need to help make the event a success.

Activities that often require Events Volunteers include:

  • Cheering Champions at our sporting events.
  • Managing refreshment stands at our post-event receptions
  • Maintaining information stands at exhibitions or other events
  • Attending charity collections.

The amount of involvement is entirely up to you. You can take part in as few or as many events as you like, and you can attend for as many hours as you are able.
