mhs homes, the UK’s largest independent provider of social housing in Kent has announced its new staff-chosen charity of 2016 is Pancreatic Cancer UK.
mhs homes will kick off its fundraising support for us through a sponsored sleep out on 23 January 2016. Supporters will spend the night in the mhs homes car park in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK and Shelter and will be entertained by The Voice finalist and Medway, Kent resident, Jamie Johnson. Other fundraising events planned for 2016 include a team triathlon, London to Paris bike ride and charity golf day.
Ashley Hook, Chief Executive of mhs homes, said:
“mhs homes is proud to announce that Pancreatic Cancer UK has been elected as our chosen charity for 2016. The charity was nominated by a member of staff after his wife was diagnosed with the disease three years ago and thankfully recovered. mhs homes hopes to raise money to enable other families to get the support they need and to raise awareness of the disease and the great work that Pancreatic Cancer UK does.”
Alex Ford, Chief Executive of Pancreatic Cancer UK, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as the mhs homes charity of the year, and would like to thank the staff who voted for us. mhs homes will help us provide support to people affected by pancreatic cancer, through services such as our Support Line which is staffed by specialist nurses, as well as fund crucial research into potential new tests and treatments. One person is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every hour, so it is vital that we reach as many people affected as possible. We look forward to working with mhs homes to fight this disease.”
