Pupils raise £3000 for cancer charities

Fundraising Fun at Mellor Community Primary School!

We wanted to say a giant THANK YOU to the pupils and staff at Mellor Community Primary School who, thanks to supporter Arti Pau, have raised a brilliant £3000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK and Cancer Research UK!

Arti, whose mum passed away from pancreatic cancer this year, organised a big fundraising event with the school's 450 pupils and teachers all getting involved in the day.

Arti said:  "the pupils created a variety of different activities, from biscuit decorating to 'sponge the teacher' and a whole school raffle, with lots of prizes to be won. We also did a 'Race at our Place' where every single child, from Foundation to Year 6 (and the staff!) ran a certain number of laps around our field. "

"Money was raised via sponsorship forms and there was a prize of a DVD player for the child who raised the most money. It was a very successful day, and despite the rain everyone managed to run their laps around the field!"

There was also the opportunity for all the children to wear non-school uniform in purple (for us) or pink and blue (for Cancer Research UK) that helped to raise the princely sum! What stars

The Pau family are not only fantastic fundraisers, but also Voices for Pancreatic Cancer UK. You can read more  about the Pau family's experience of pancreatic cancer in our real life stories, where Arti's brother Aman wrote about his experience of being a carer.

Arti is also joining us for a skydive in July! Think that sounds like a fun way of raising money for charity? We have a team jump happening in September - get involved!
