Emily Goodman (Daughter)

A tribute byDoug and Celia Goodman

Emily died on 25th September 2010 aged 29. She was an only daughter who lived her short life to the full.. She was a quiet person but a determined one, whose first words were 'Do it me' Throughout her life she showed great determination and independence. She always loved animals and whilst at school worked at the local animal rescue centre on Saturdays, studied zoology for her first degree and badger behaviour for her PhD., tracking badgers for hours at night in a dark wood. She travelled widely and loved outdoor activities; trekked to Everest Base camp, kayakked and camped among bears on Vancouver Island, jumped out of planes and black water rafted in New Zealand. If there was a challenge to be had, she was up for it. She ran the marathon when she must have already been ill and raised money for Save the Rhino. Emily met Alastair at Bristol University and their relationship withstood her moving to York to take her masters and PhD. They settled in Chester with plans for the future. Alastair was an amazing support throughout her short illness during which she was stoic and brave. We are proud and thankful that she packed so much into her life.
