A tribute byBill Greenhalf
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear friend and colleague James Nicholson. James was a gifted surgeon who dedicated his short but exceptional research career to the fight against pancreatic cancer.
He graduated from UCL but took up his research fellowship with the European Registry of Hereditary Pancreatitis and Familial Pancreatic Cancer (EUROPAC) in Liverpool in 2010. This led to him achieving a PhD in 2017 on the genetic changes associated with the development of pancreatic cancer.
He was funded by Pancreatic Cancer UK and published a number of papers and abstracts with EUROPAC. The last paper was published on the 23rd of October 2018 in the American Journal of Gastroenterology, one day after he passed away.
James loved his work and he loved his patients and their families. He will be sorely missed by all of us that he left behind.
