With your support, we have made huge strides in driving positive change, and we’re bringing more than hope to those affected by pancreatic cancer, and their loved ones.
This year, we awarded £3.1 million in research grants, including £1.1 million to Professor George Hanna at Imperial College London to progress his research on the world’s first breath test for pancreatic cancer into a clinical trial involving almost 6,000 patients. A further £1.2 million is funding research into better, kinder treatments.
We raised our voices and spurred government action. Our Unite. Diagnose. Save Lives. campaign called on the government to prioritise pancreatic cancer, and we saw the launch of the National Cancer Plan for England, which addresses less survivable cancers for the first time. We also welcomed the landmark Rare Cancers Act, and are pushing for similar action in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
To improve care, we lobbied across the UK for our Optimal Care Pathway recommendations to be included in NHS cancer care pathways and ran courses for health professionals. We also launched The Big Picture, an online platform collating real life experiences of pancreatic cancer diagnosis, treatment and care. In total, 5,000 people received direct support from us across our nurse Support Line, WhatsApp channel and Circles peer support groups.
Finally, we raised a record £14.5 million through fundraising efforts, including £2.8 million from the TCS London Marathon 2025 and £341,000 through the Double Donations matched funding campaign. These milestones will be key to achieving our goal of doubling our income by 2028 so that we can continue to fund research breakthroughs and provide support services for those that need them.
This year’s exceptional successes would not have been possible without your time, enthusiasm and commitment, and we are hugely grateful for your ongoing support in bringing more than hope to people affected by pancreatic cancer.
