Beethoven Choral Symphony
Tuesday 13th January saw our first ever concert at the fabulous Royal Festival Hall, Southbank, London. The Beethoven Gala included some of Beethoven’s most famous pieces including The Triple Concerto featuring the Philharmonia Orchestra and three brilliant young soloists; Violinist Callum Smart, Cellist Laura van der Heijden and Pianist Julian Clef. Followed by Symphony No 9 (“Choral”) - widely considered to be one of the greatest pieces of music ever written.
On this occasion Natalya Romaniw, Anne-Marie Owens, Robert Murray and Sir Willard White provided the magnificent solo voices during the uplifting final movement; Ode to Joy, supported by the Philharmonia Chorus.
