This session is suitable for all healthcare professionals treating and supporting people with pancreatic cancer, no matter your level or role. It is particularly relevant for people working in palliative care teams, UGI / HPB CNSs and healthcare professionals working in hospices or in the community.

Nicci has been nursing for 20 years and started her career as a district nurse, going on to specialise in palliative care, both in the community and in a hospice setting. Nicci then moved to secondary care, working in oncology in a city hospital providing support to individuals and their families affected by a cancer diagnosis, including pancreatic cancer. For the last five years Nicci has been part of the nursing team at Pancreatic Cancer UK working on the support line.

Dr Margred Capel – Consultant in Palliative Medicine, City Hospice Cardiff
Margred was appointed as a Consultant in Palliative Medicine at City Hospice and Velindre University Hospital NHS Trust in 2008, and subsequently became Clinical Director of City Hospice. She is the Training Programme Director for Palliative Medicine in Wales, has an interest in pancreatic cancer, and was a member of the Pancreatic Guideline development group (NICE, 2016).
Catriona Seed – Education Lead & Clinical Nurse Specialist, City Hospice Cardiff
Catriona started working in palliative care at Princess Alice Hospice in 2015 on the in-patient unit. In 2018, she became a CNS at City Hospice, has completed her MSc Palliative Medicine for Healthcare Professionals and became the Education Lead for the hospice. In 2023 Catriona was awarded the Queen’s Nurse title for her work around education in nursing homes. Catriona regularly delivers teaching to healthcare professionals across Cardiff & the Vale on various topics in palliative care.
