Carl was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer in 2014, when he was 43, and had surgery to remove the cancer.
The doctors found a mass on my pancreas quite by chance. I didn't have any symptoms at the time. No pain, nausea, jaundice or weight loss, nothing. I was at my peak fitness level. I collapsed in my local Tesco one morning with back pain.

I was told that I needed surgery and that I was being referred to a specialist hospital. It was discovered that I had a huge ulcerated, doughnut shaped growth in my duodenum (small intestine), which was obstructing the pancreas.

I was diagnosed 30th November 2017. I had attended A&E back in October with suspected gallstones and abdominal and lower back pain. I had further tests at A&E which showed my pancreatic duct was dilated. It was purely by fate it was discovered, and also importantly that it was discovered early.
