Making information and support accessible for everyone
Our aim is to support everyone affected by pancreatic cancer. We know that health information can sometimes be hard to understand. There are lots of medical words to get to grips with, and it can feel confusing. That's why we spend a lot of time making sure our information is as simple as possible.
We are committed to including everyone affected by pancreatic cancer, and making sure they feel welcome and supported. Here are a few ways to access information and support.
Recite Me
Recite Me is a powerful accessibility tool available to use on our website, that offers a personalised experience including features like text-to-speech, different text styles, and language translation. You can find this in the top level menu just above the Donate button.
In May, over 172 people used the toolbar while viewing our website, who may not have been able to access vital information and support without it. We’re committed to creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and supported, and this is just one of the steps we’re taking to make this happen.
Easy Read booklets
Our Easy Read booklets help people who find reading hard. They were developed with people with learning disabilities, and use pictures and simple words to help people understand key information. These booklets include:
- Pancreatic cancer – What is it? How is it diagnosed?
- Surgery to remove pancreatic cancer
- Treatment if you can’t have surgery
- Treating symptoms and getting support
If you, or someone you know, would find these useful, order or download your free copy.
Information and support emails
If you have just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, our new tailored emails can help you get the information and support you need.
These emails are broken down into logical, bite sized chunks over several weeks, providing key facts so it’s easy to follow and understand. They are ideal for people feeling overwhelmed by lots of information. Sign up to receive tailored emails.
"I found all the information very clear, enabling me to cope better with my condition."
Information videos
We know some people don’t want lots of written information. Our series of information videos help people understand treatments for pancreatic cancer and managing symptoms. You can watch all information videos on our website.
Print, audio and braille
We can also provide our information in large print, audio and braille for those who need it. Simply fill out our Accessible Information form to tell us what you need or call our free Support Line on 0808 801 0707.
