Our specialist nurse support

Our specialist nurses can provide extra support to your patients and their loved ones. They are experts in pancreatic cancer and can talk for as long as people need, as often as they like. With many years of nursing experience between them, you can be confident in encouraging your patients to call, email or WhatsApp with any questions.

Circles – Community Groups

This new support service allows people affected by pancreatic cancer to connect via groups (such as WhatsApp and Facebook). A space to share with others going through a similar experience, those who will understand and ‘just get it’. If this is something your patients would be interested in joining, please share the link.

Real Life Stories

Whether your patients want to read other people’s stories or tell their own, our Real Life Stories are a place to share in the highs, the lows, and everything in between. This can help people deal with their feelings and feel less alone.

Other organisations providing support

There are also organisations that can support your patients with side effects and symptoms; provide spiritual support; provide practical information and support, such as information on finances or work; support for family members and bereavement support.

We’ve collated these on our website, but your local cancer centre may offer this support too. You could also direct your patients to a variety of support groups currently running across the UK.

Training: Supporting cancer patients who are parents

The Fruit Fly Collective are developing a comprehensive programme of support for parents living with cancer and create a co-ordinated unified standard approach to ensure support is accessible and inclusive, and available from diagnosis, throughout treatment and to either recovery or palliative care. As part of this, they offer training for health professionals to provide practical ideas, solutions and resources to help you support your patients who are parents.
